hazelden betty ford

st. paul, mn

Hazelden Betty Ford (HBF) is a nationally renowned treatment organization helping individuals, families, and communities struggling with substance addiction. Located on a former industrial site above the Mississippi River, HBF has transformed their St. Paul facility into a campus that translates the complex healing process into a purposeful campus program that creates a healing retreat for individuals and a welcoming environment for their families. The centerpiece of the campus is the Twelve Step Path which reflects the Twelve Step Program by following the recovery journey through a series of spaces that support the emotional and programmatic aspects of HBF’s services. As a metaphor and spatial experience, the Twelve Step Path is a representation of the core structure of the recovery experience. It is also a functional space that facilitates quiet reflective walks for individuals and creates connective experiences between residents, coaches, mentors, and families – all key programming elements of the treatment process.
